information. BIO Once a mercenary under his father Jeralt, Byleth was known as the "Ashen Demon" for his legendary reputation as a fierce warrior capable of ruthless slaughter. The truth is that he does not like the title. Through a series of unexpected events, and despite being young enough to be a student himself, he becomes a professor at Garreg Mach Monastery, tasked with instructing the trainee officers there in the art of combat and entrusted with personally overseeing one of the three student houses. Calm, stoic, and often reserved, Byleth speaks very little and demands even less, presenting an outwardly unexpressive demeanor which conceals a rather more sensitive inner world. He has won deep loyalty from his students and colleagues through his steady presence and unyielding resolve. AGE Initially, Byleth does not know his own age. Through the events of the story, it is eventually confirmed that he is 21 years old. There is subsequently a two-year or five-year timeskip depending on whether we are on the Houses or Hopes timeline; in the case of the five-year timeskip, however, it may be argued that Byleth didn't actually experience it. As such, he's sort of nebulously 22 at the end of the Houses timeline — or 23 at the end of the Hopes timeline? Regardless, it doesn't really matter. I say Byleth is 21-22, personally. You can make a solid argument for Byleth being 26-27 instead, but either way, he is a young adult and behaves as such. Very mature; teacherly to the point of being parental. APPEARANCE Pre-timeskip, Byleth has dark hair and violet-blue eyes; post-timeskip, his hair lightens to a much brighter green and his eyes turn the vivid green typical of Nabataeans. Lean, muscular, and fairly attractive. Otherwise unremarkable. VOICE Flat, assertive, soft, and dispassionate. Low, but not especially deep. Kind of soothing and teacherly. I run with Zach Aguilar in English and Yusuke Kobayashi in Japanese, with a preference for the Japanese take. He'll get a little louder in a fight, but not by much. ic permissions. PLATONIC CONTACT Yes, this is fine. Byleth virtually never initiates contact himself, but he may reach out once he's established comfort with you. SHIPPING & SMUT I'm open to shipping with Byleth, but it's not a priority of mine by any means. At the moment, I am only interested in Dimitri/Byleth for shipping. As far as smut goes, Byleth is a true vers switch. I'd say he has a slight lean towards being dommy in a classic sexy-teacher way, but I can write anything. I like top Dimitri and bottom Dimitri equally. PHYSICAL VIOLENCE Yes, totally fine, even to fairly serious degrees. Obviously, you'll have to check in with me before killing him, but broken bones and the like are perfectly acceptable. MINDREADING Yes, mindreading is totally fine. Just tell me if you'd like running commentary on what he'd be thinking. Might be somewhat immune, depending on canon point and powers, but likely isn't after the timeskip. OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS Nothing in particular! ooc permissions. BACKTAGGING No problem. I tend to drop threads whenever I think the conversation is winding down, though — always feel free to poke me into continuing a thread again if you had something planned. THREADJACKING Always cool with me. FOURTHWALLING I really don't care. OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS None in particular. PREFERRED THREADS My interest in writing Byleth is very purely to write the stoic professor with a heart of gold, and I'm not that particular about anything else. At earlier canon points, I do try to write him in a way that comes off as a little flat and emotionless, but if you ever feel like I'm not giving you enough to continue a thread, just reach out to me and I'll spice things up a bit for you. Pre-timeskip, I'm happy to play out teatimes, lessons, active military exercises, or anything else of that nature. Post-timeskip, we can get into active warfare, political drama, and what have you. I'm also open to indulgent AUs where Byleth is a priest, sexy archbishop, dragon god taking your character as his sacrifice, etc. My personal favorite character groups are the Blue Lions and the Church of Seiros, but that doesn't mean I dislike the other groups. I don't know, man, I'm late to this party and I'll take whatever people still want to play out with a character and canon that has already been explored by lots of different RPers. CANON POINT Pre-timeskip or post-timeskip threads are both fine with me! I have a very strong preference for playing off Azure Moon / Azure Gleam. I can absolutely play off the other routes if asked, but it's not really what I personally like to do, so I'd appreciate it if you have a strong reason for doing so. OTHER I am generally a slow RPer, as a word of warning. While I can turn tags around in a day or two sometimes, you can more often expect me to take anywhere between 1-2 weeks for a tag. One last thing: I know some people dislike the narrative fawning over Byleth throughout FE3H's story. I'm happy to lean into it as long as it makes you happy, since it's in-character for nearly everyone to admire him, and hey, I also like writing five paragraphs about how cool he is! But if you dislike Byleth and would be better served by toning down your character's interest in him, that's perfectly fine by me; just treat him as you would treat any other character. That being said, I assume most people who dislike Byleth wouldn't even consider tagging Byleth to begin with...
